Cascading Style Sheets
Web design, unlike graphic design, does not allow the designer to specify exactly how a page will appear to an internet user, HTML was originally concerned with information and functionality rather than appearance. The changing user demographic increases the demand for more control, to this end the system of Cascading Style Sheets was developed. The Style Sheet is a file located within the source code that tells the browser how to display a page. Its supposed advantage is that one file can thus be used to define many pages. Style sheets will not validate under HTML3.2 so that their effectiveness will, like so many web solutions, depend upon the users browser
