Directories

A web site which provides links to other sites by topic etc. They are sometimes confused with search engines as they perform a similar function. They differ however in how they access the information using conventional methods of input and acquisition rather than relying on web crawlers to automatically gather information. Because of the ‘personal’ touch directories may provide a more focussed response than search engines. Yahoo is a directory.
